NEWTON, N.H. - Bernadette T. (Daly) Austin, 73, of Newton, N.H., died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at Lawrence General Hospital, following a long illness.

A resident of Newton for the past 28 years, moving here from Prospect, Conn., Mrs. Austin was born in Cambridge, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Lane) Daly.

She was raised and educated in Cambridge and Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School with the class of 1953. She later attended the nursing program at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill and was employed for many years at the former Pentucket Manor in Haverhill.

Mrs. Austin was a longtime member of Mary Mother of the Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish of Newton.
