METHUEN - Mary A. (Melesko) Mendys, 94, of Methuen, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen.

The daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Fpierenkiv) Melesko, Mary was born in Lawrence on Jan. 12, 1914. She was educated in Methuen schools.

She was employed for many years as a retail clerk in local stores. She was also employed as a stitcher for the William Barry Clothing Company in Lawrence, from where she retired.

Most of her life, she was a homemaker. She attended the former Holy Trinity Church of Lawrence. She enjoyed sewing and knitting items for her family and friends, and caring for her family.
